Jeff Reed Gets Rowdy
Written by Aaron on October 22, 2009 – 2:33 pm -Written by: Alix Lee
Steelers special teams captain by day, leader of the booze brigade by night. That’s right; Jeff Reed is a giant booze-hound who parades around PA with a “terrible towel” in one hand and a brewski in the other. After Sunday’s 27-14 win against the Cleveland Browns, Reed had a little run-in with the Pittsburgh po-po several hours after the game. He was cited for simple assault, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness after an alleged scuffle with police officers outside a bar near Heinz Field. I mean the team beats the Browns at home. BIG WOOP! I’d hardly call that a cause for celebration. It’s not like they won the Super Bowl or something….oh wait, Reed did the same type of moronic thing when they defeated the Cardinals back in February? That’s right sports fans….this is Reed’s second incident of 2009. Earlier this year, he pled guilty to disorderly conduct and criminal mischief after this brilliant play: he showed a paper towel dispenser at a gas station crapper who’s boss by ripping it off the wall. I can’t tell if I think this guy is awesome or just a sad sack with a great toe. Reed was 2 for 2 against the Browns and is 7 for 10 this year. Currently in his 8thseason (all with the Steelers), he is 12th in NFL history in field goal accuracy making 169 of 206. Pretty impressive stats. I wonder how he is at beer pong?

NFL Week 6 Preview
Written by Aaron on October 15, 2009 – 12:12 pm -Written by: Alix Lee
Like my good friend Forrest Gump once said, “Sundays in the NFL are like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re gonna get.” Sure you can always expect Adrian Peterson to dazzle you, Tony Romo to disappoint you, and Detroit to lose, but this week I say expect the unexpected (like a first win of the season for Tampa Bay). Let’s take a look at the games you DON’T want to miss……
BALTIMORE at MINNESOTA
Coming off a heartbreaking loss against the 4-1 Cincinnati Bengals last Sunday, the Ravens need to pick up the pace if they want to contend in the ever-competitive AFC North. After an unimpressive win over the Rams last week (hey, it’s the Rams), the undefeated Vikings are looking for their 6th straight victory.
Here’s why I’m so giddy over this game: Minnesota is finally playing a real team and I will actually be impressed if they win. No disrespect to my beloved Packers, but Minnesota is 5-0 because their schedule resembles a Candy Land board. They played the Clowns week 1, the Lions week 2, the Whiners week 3, the Almighty Packers week 4, and St. Lose-is last week. Of course they are undefeated! Maybe I feel so strongly against the Vikes because I pay homage to the Cheese, but either way I can’t help but think they are undefeated because they have yet to play a tough team (hello Ray Lewis!). I can’t deny that Adrian Peterson is god-like when he has the ball or that Jared Allen will make Joe Flacco his bitch, but I can say this game will be close and exciting.
Bottom Line: Vikings meet their maker as the Ravens tally another one in the W column. 24-21 Baltimore.
NY GIANTS at NEW ORLEANS
Fresh off a bye in week 5 and averaging about 257 yards per game, everyone’s favorite chant-leader Drew Brees will face the NFL’s top-ranked NY Giant defense at the Superdome in New Orleans. With the Giants offense ranked 2nd overall and the Saints coming in at 3rd, I expect to see a lot of variety on the field, and variety is the spice of life, my friends.
Here’s why I’m so giddy over this game: Besides the fact that it’s a battle between two undefeated teams, it’s also a game between two elite teams in the NFL. Call me crazy (it wouldn’t be the first time), but I have a feeling that we will see this match-up again in the playoffs. The Saints are the highest scoring team in the NFL, averaging 36 points a game, but as I mentioned before, the Giants are the top defense. Eli has the second best passer rating (behind big brother Peyton) while Drew comes in at third. There are so many factors making this game must-see TV. Another factor is my favorite tight-end Jeremy Shockey and his plot of revenge. Before he was traded back in July 2008, he had this to say: “If the team trades me….I promise you I will make them pay when they trade me. If I ever get a chance to play against a team that did trade me, it’s not going to be a pretty sight.” Them’s fightin’ words, so let’s get it on.
Bottom Line: It won’t be a “brees,” but Eli and his flat feet will fall short, giving the Giants loss numero uno. 27-20 New Orleans.
So get yourself a six-pack, some brats and get comfy because your ass shouldn’t be anywhere but in front of a television. Enjoy week six, I know I will.
If this doesn’t pump you up, I don’t know what will. Take it away Drill Sergeant Brees

Guess Who’s Back….
Written by Aaron on October 12, 2009 – 7:13 pm -No, It’s not Steph, It’s not Favre gone green or Favre gone Purple either. By popular demand of 1 person, B-Ry & Aaron from your grandma’s Playahatin.com are going to take another hack at this. We’re working on getting Brett and are currently in contract negotiations. Any encouraging words, PB Max or Utah Jazz swingman will probably help get Brett out of retirement.
Look out for more posts daily – and, oh yeah… Tell all your friends!

Donte Stallworth’s Trip To The Beach…
Written by Aaron on March 15, 2009 – 12:06 am -
Stallworth found himself in a precarious situation this morning, one that left him with his Bentley parked on some guys dome. The Cleveland Browns rarely seen wide receiver ran over and killed 59 year old, Mario Reyes in Miami beach Saturday morning around 7 am. It is unknown whether Stallworth was on his way to lay out on the beach or finally attempting his drive home after a long night of partying. Blood alcohol and drug tests were done on the scene even though the police were adamant that this was standard procedure and nothing implying that Stallworth had done anything illegally. It is also unknown if Reyes was crossing the street illegally or if he was in a cross walk.

NFL News

A couple of players have restructured their contracts for next year. LaDainian Tomlinson will be in San Diego for a few more years. Whether is was the Tyson Chandler like toe or age catching up with him doesn’t matter. He will be back with the Bolts and gives them some cap relief. If he can get back to his old self, and Ed Hoculee can get off the steroids long enough to get a call right, the Chargers could have a bounce back year. Antonio Gates should be healthy, and they have a guy named Merriman coming back.

Was the T.O. move a football move…
Written by Aaron on March 9, 2009 – 1:03 pm -
Was the Buffalo Bills decision to sign Terrell Owens a move to improve their football team and to take the next step towards making it back to the playoff’s or was it a marketing / P.R. stunt to generate ticket sales? I noticed that the NFL store is selling Terrell Owens Buffalo Bills jerseys for $85.00 already. I researched this and found out that it was less than 24 hours after the signing of Owens that the #1 Owens jersey was on the Bills website for sale. This move will obviously make the Bill’s better immediately, but the Bills have been horrible over the past 10 years and ticket sales are in a major decline, the team really isn’t that exciting and, Marshawn Lynch is in trouble again and is facing jail time. I think that the Bill’s along with Owens will make the playoffs, but i think the decision to sign the problem child and pay him as much as they’re was made easier by thinking about the buzz (Ticket Sales, Jersey Sales) he brings to the team, the city and the state

Weekend News
Written by Brett on March 9, 2009 – 12:05 pm -TO goes to the Bills
It didn’t take long, and it sounds like TO is getting a raise for getting cut by the Cowboys. Two days after getting ran out of Dallas, TO signed a 1 year deal with the Bills for 6.5 million. It could get ugly quick in Buffalo. He is going to a mediocre team with a third year quarterback that isn’t exactly putting up Tom Brady like numbers. I was hoping he would sign on with a team that mattered so he could destroy another locker room. But you can’t kill a locker room of a team that goes 7-9 every year.

Terrell Owens signs with….
Written by Aaron on March 5, 2009 – 10:59 pm -
I know that teams aren’t dying to bring in Terrell Owens, but he is still one of the great receivers of our generation and can be a huge difference maker for any team in the league. The problem isn’t his talent being questioned (although he had his drop problems) the problem is his dedication and willingness to be a part of a team, does Randy Moss going to New England ring a bell? That has worked out pretty good hasn’t it. My point is, that although the experiments haven’t worked to perfection yet, it doesn’t mean it wont for Owens given the right chance. Here is where i could see Owens headed this off-season:

Kurt Warner’s last stop before heading back to the Supermarket.
Written by Aaron on March 5, 2009 – 12:17 am -So it looks like old man Warner’s vacation to Alcatraz tricked the Arizona Cardinals enough to resign the soon to be 40 year old jugs machine. Seriously, i could stand in the pocket and get the ball to old steel face Boldin and the best receiver in the NFL, Larry Fitzgerald. What did he expect to see in San Francisco that would entice him to play there? Mike Singletary pulling his pants down, Alex Smith working on his running game, riding on a street troll
ey? I guarantee the Cardinals didn’t even worry for a second. They were probably hoping that the 49ers would trick Warner into signing. But alas, the Cardinals give the old man 2 more years to teach Matt Leinert to put his pads on and toss the ball. Warner will receive $23 Million over the 2 year span, although only $19 Million is guaranteed. My question is, why would Warner use San Fran of all places to try to spike his value? The Cards just got off a trip to the Super Bowl, have 2 of the best targets in the NFL and a great young line to protect him. Kurt, count your blessings and feel privileged to still have a job, let alone one with one of the best young teams in the NFL, or get out your suspender back brace again and head back to Costco.
